Chicago P.D.’s three-way crossover to reveal devastating Voight news

The upcoming Chicago P.D., Chicago Fire, and Chicago Med event is ramping up to be the most emotional Chicago crossover yet.

In the crossover, P.D.’s intelligence team works a case to determine if a doctor is intentionally killing patients. EW can now exclusively reveal that the case will hit close to home when steely squad commander Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) realizes that the suspect in question, Dr. Dean Reybold (Jeremy Shamos), was his late wife’s doctor — meaning there’s a very real possibility that his wife didn’t just die, but was killed several years ago by this man.

“We really enjoy these crossovers,” executive producer Matt Olmstead tells EW. “In this inaugural three-Chicago-show crossover, viewers are going to have the opportunity to see a side of Jason Beghe’s Voight that they haven’t experienced yet. It’s personal, emotional, and there’s a good chance viewers may find a new level of compassion for him as this case brings up feelings from his past.”

Chicago Med 1×04 Mistaken Promo ft. Sophia

Sophia will guest star in Chicago Med’s upcoming episode 1×04 Chicago Med this Tuesday!

After shots ring out at a movie theater, the Chicago Med doctors work to treat the victims while hospital administrator Sharon Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) attempts to keep the press at bay. To treat a teenager with an eating disorder, Dr. Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVitto) enlists the help of Dr. Daniel Charles (Oliver Platt), but his unorthodox methods rub Natalie and the teenage girl’s mother the wrong way. Meanwhile, Nurse April Sexton (Yaya DaCosta), Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) and Dr. Ethan Choi (Brian Tee) treat a racist patient whose strange form of bigotry surprises them all. Colin Donnell, Rachel DiPillo also star. Kara Killmer, Dora Madison, Sophia Bush, Jesse Lee Soffer and Julie Berman guest star.

Chicago Crossover Spoilers

Question: Any scoop on the three-way crossover with Chicago Fire, P.D., and Med? I’ll take anything you have on any of the shows individually, too!
The franchise’s first three-way kicks off Jan. 5, when Chicago Fire responds to a call involving a comatose woman discovered in a burned-down apartment building. After learning she was on chemo, “we start digging into her case because we’re not sure if it was a suicide attempt,” P.D.‘s Jesse Lee Sofer previews. “We realize that she didn’t actually have cancer, and she was being poisoned with chemotherapy, possibly by a physician. Then the story transfers from Fire to Med to P.D., where we go on a manhunt for whoever was responsible for this. It turns out, there may be more cases.”
